St. Francis of Assisi School Christmas Parade Float

The Parents of some of our Students worked to create this year’s school float for the Greenwood Christmas Parade. The theme set for us was, “It’s A Wonderful Life”. George Bailey’s Bank and Trust became the central theme of this year’s float with the angel looking on over us all.

All was in readiness; the float had arrived at the waiting location on the corner of Howard and Carrollton Avenues. The school King, Queen, Prince and Princess were in attendance,  the judges had come by for the annual judging of floats and the clouds gathered over head..

The streets were filling up as the parade started on the South side of Greenwood. Onlookers anticipated the fun and the sprinkles.

All now on the move, the floats of many local businesses, bands playing as they marched, dance troops performed and a new attraction  of inflatables passes.

The rain came down more steadily as we walked on through the streets of down town Greenwood. Daylight turned to dusk and  everyone anticipated the lights of the bridge which meant we were nearing the North side of town, Grand Boulevard. This also meant the parade route was nearing it’s completion.

Now walking down Grand Boulevard the scenery changes and we notice the homes with their lights gracing our way nearer to the end of our parade route.

We all were eager to get home, get some dry clothes on and take a good look at the trophy which had been give to the school along the route.

At this point Sr. Mary Ann was given the trophy for Community Pride.

Sister Mary Ann received the Community Pride trophy in the name of St.francis of Assisi School.
